The default behavior most customers expect for small to medium

installations is to run cinder-volume on the controller node.

Packstack does this but a Foreman deployment only allows a

dedicated storage backend backed by iSCSI or Red Hat Storage.

With this update, you can deploy cinder-volume on the Compute or

OpenStack Networking controller node, if cinder_backend_iscsi is

set to false. It will detect a volume group named cinder-volumes

(backed by an iSCSI target) and share it via the target deamon

(tgtd). You must manually create the volume group, which is also

the case with the cinder_backend_iscsi parameter for the LVM

backend storage group.

In the OpenStack Block Storage service, an enhancement which

allows the migration of Block Storage volume between different

Block Storage backends has been added. This allows the relocation

of a storage volume to a different host (or storage backend).

A new feature, virtio-win, is available from the Red Hat

Enterprise Linux OpenStack Platform channel.

Previously, users who wished to used the virtio-win drivers were

required to subscribe to the Red Hat Enterprise Linux

Supplementary channel.

Now installation and configuration for virtio-win users is

simplified.

Packstack now supports the vCenter driver. With this, Packstack

can now deploy OpenStack Compute as a VM manager for a vCenter

host.

This enhancement also adds the following relevant Packstack

parameters:

--os-vmware: enables VMWare features

--vcenter-host: describes the vCenter host

--vcenter-username: the vCenter username for the host

--vcenter-password: the corresponding vCenter password for the

supplied username

--vcenter-cluster: the cluster where VMs will be running
